European Cottage Holiday

Most cottages and vacation homes in Europe are rented by the week, and some by the month, but there are plenty that are also available in smaller increments of time. Self-catering cottage holidays in Europe can be a great way to experience the local culture and they can save you money compared to hotel rates. Self-catering means that there is no room service and non cleaning service, though some cottages do come with weekly maid service.
The difference between a cottage and villa is largely one of semantics and location. In the British Isles and France, the term cottage is used while in Italy, Spain and other Mediterranean countries the term used is villas. Elsewhere in Europe these are often referred to as holiday homes or self-catering rentals. Local terms aside, there are many agencies that represent properties in multiple countries.
